POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Memphis (TCAT Memphis) invites applications for the position of Assistant Director. TCAT Memphis is one of twenty-seven Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) technical colleges accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.
Description: The Assistant Director (AD) reports directly to the President and is responsible for providing quality leadership to the faculty and staff of the college. The Assistant Director manages instructional programs, oversees the operations of various departments and ensures the institution is adhering to all federal, state and TBR related regulations. The Assistant Director provides leadership in various areas including strategic planning, procurement, compliance, operations, finance, and public relations. As a member of the administration team, the Assistant Director will provide executive leadership in the absence of the President and will perform other duties as assigned.
General Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree; a working knowledge of technical education systems a plus. A minimum of five current years’ experience in career-technical education, post-secondary education and/or related business experience with extensive supervisory responsibility involving employees, significant decision-making responsibilities for personnel and program schedules, and fiscal management. Extensive experience in record keeping, federal and state report preparation and submittal, and the ability to meet short notice deadlines. Evidence of successful personnel recruitment experience, developing public relations materials, and attracting students into the technical education field. The ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers, execute good judgment, express ideas clearly, and concisely, plan and direct the work of others toward the accomplishment of institutional goals and objectives. A dynamic, innovative, and energetic individual with the necessary professionalism, communication, planning, and organizational skills to lead and inspire internal as well as external constituencies.
Duties include: The Assistant Director will be active in the work aimed at the continued growth and development of the college, as well as COE accreditation; TBR program proposals; student safety and discipline; financial aid; compliance; act as the Title IX and Affirmative Action Officer; curriculum development, and IPEDS. The Assistant Director will serve as the Equal Employment Officer & Affirmative Action Officer (EEO, AA) for the College. Ensure that all hiring, campus activities, TBR policies, federal guidelines, and implementation practices are adhered to.
The AD works in tandem with the Student Affairs Manager and President to impose sanctions related to recommended student suspensions or expulsions. Ensure that the student has been made aware of due process related to the appeal process. If applicable, compose hearing committee and oversee appeal process; inform student and President formally. Maintain all records related to disciplinary issues and actions taken.
Serve on all external Committees as requested by the President. Assist the Clery Officer, ensuring all requirements and mandates are met. All related reports must be prepared, maintained and submitted to the appropriate federal and state agency. The Assistant Director will assist the President with evaluation of all personnel and instructional programs; public relations with schools, businesses, and other community agencies. The AD will also oversee the Banner implementation.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and according to Tennessee Board of Regents salary guidelines.
