Minimum Training and Experience:
High school diploma and five years of administrative experience; an Associate's degree and two years of administrative experience; or a Bachelor's degree required. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software highly desired. Previous related work experience at an institution of higher education desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of office management practices and procedures. Ability to perform word processing with a high degree of accuracy and in a timely manner; work efficiently with frequent interruptions; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Major Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant to the Dean of the College of Business Administration, the Administrative Specialist provides secretarial and back-up receptionist support for the College of Business Administration. Greets and welcomes all visitors to the Dean's Office; answers main telephone line and direct calls or take messages for distribution; and provides administrative support for two associate deans and three department chairs as needed. Provides staff support for the Administrative Coordinator and faculty as needed. Distributes mail on a daily basis; updates assigned mail boxes as needed; and maintains supplies inventory.
