Western Connecticut State University is pleased to announce applications are being accepted for part-time adjunct teaching positions in the Social Sciences department in the disciplines of Sociology and Anthropology for in-person courses for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences is home to nine (9) departments, 16 undergraduate majors and four (4) graduate programs and offers a variety of ways for students to further their education. The Department of Social Sciences offers a BA in a combined Anthropology/Sociology program, and a BA in Political Science. Qualifications: Prior teaching experience at the college level is required. Candidates must be able to teach in-person on-campus during normal business hours (this is not a remote teaching opportunity).
Sociology candidates must either have a Ph.D. or be ABD in Sociology, or a related interdisciplinary field. Candidates must possess expertise in sociology and be able to teach Introduction to Sociology. The ability to teach additional courses beyond the introductory level is a plus.
Anthropology candidates must either have a Ph.D. or be ABD in Anthropology, or in a related interdisciplinary field. Candidates must possess expertise in anthropology and be able to teach Introduction to Cultural Anthropology. The ability to teach additional courses beyond the introductory level is a plus.
Salary & Benefits: The current minimum starting salary is $1,938 per load credit (or a minimum of $5,814 for a single 3 credit course). WCSU is within walking distance of the Danbury station on the Metro North train. All employment, if offered, is contingent upon proof of citizenship or employability under the requirement of the Immigration and Control Act (IRCA) and the successful passing of a background check.
