EMERGENCY COORDINATOR
The University of South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement and Safety is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Emergency Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organizational and communications skills, will have knowledge of emergency planning and response, and possess hands-on experience developing emergency preparedness exercises and drills. Police or first responder experience is a plus, but not required for this position.
This position is located in the Emergency Management Section of the Administrative and Emergency Management Bureau. Under the direction of the Emergency Management Lieutenant, the Emergency Coordinator develops the planning of, response to, and preparedness for emergency incidents and events at both the University of South Carolina main campus and the USC satellite campuses. This position will also be responsible for coordinating law enforcement and first response activities for special events incorporating incident management principles into event operations.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in related field, or bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 years related experience; or high school diploma and 3 years related experience. Must be 21 years of age, be physically qualified and have no criminal record. Must pass a background investigation and complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy.
Preferred Qualifications: Our ideal candidate will have Bachelor's degree with related emergency experience, including: design and implementation of training and exercises and Incident Command System basic and advanced training courses. Will possess experience in or skills of an emergency responder. May be required to attend the SC Criminal Justice Academy and become a certified police officer within one year of hire.
