The Law Enforcement Officer Class I provides law enforcement, security, and protection for the University of South Carolina community and property. These are certified police officers empowered with full arrest and police authority state wide and charged with safeguarding a diverse, multicultural university community. They enforce state laws as well as University rules and regulations, provide dignitary detail security, and assist with critical incidents.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma. Must be 21 years of age and able to meet the physical standards of training as set forth by the SC Criminal Justice Academy. Must pass a background investigation and be certified by the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one year of being employed.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year experience in public safety / law enforcement, prior military experience, or comparable education.

State of SC benefits package (includes medical and dental ). Enrollment in SC Police Officers Retirement system. All required training, equipment, footwear, and uniforms provided by employer. Paid membership at University gyms. University employees receive both annual leave and sick leave hours and can accrue up to 15 days of each per year. In addition to paid leave all University employees receive 13 paid holidays per year. Free classes are offered for university employees after six months of employment. Ample opportunities for training, overtime work, and advancement.

Salary USD 38,250 – 45,254 Per Year (Salaries above minimum are based on experience as an SCCJA Certified 1 Officer).
