About the Opportunity

The primary purpose of the K12 Program Assistant position is to provide day-to-day program support for the three K12 scholarship grant programs: the Children with Disabilities Grant, the Opportunity Scholarship, and the Personal Education Savings Account. Responsibilities include: planning and delivering a variety of administrative services for both programs, including overseeing processing functions, providing customer service and communicating program information, policies, and procedures to parents of students, nonpublic school officials, and other stakeholders, planning and organizing activities related to applications, documentation, and disbursement of funds, maintaining records and preparing data for review, and problem-solving process and procedural issues.

 

This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

 

About the NC State Education Assistance Authority

NCSEAA, an agency of the State of North Carolina, is authorized by the General Assembly to plan, finance and administer postsecondary student financial assistance programs of a statewide or inter-institutional nature. It serves students attending public and private two- and four-year colleges and universities in North Carolina. The Guaranty Agency and Repayment Services Division provides default aversion assistance to borrowers, reviews and processes lender claims, initiates collection activities, and resolves outstanding balances of borrowers with defaulted educational loan debts under the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP) and loans under various State of North Carolina educational loan programs. The division also administers the servicing and collection of loans in the State's various forgivable loan programs and oversees the State's centralized Residency Determination Service.

 

About the Team

The Grants, Training and Outreach Division administers over 30 aid programs awarding over $350 million to approximately 150,000 K12 and college students each year. The Division also conducts FAFSA outreach programs to educate and assist North Carolina students and families with paying for college and offers training programs for financial aid professionals and school counselors

 

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills

Graduation from high school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. 

 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor's degree and minimum of one year of relevant experience working in customer service and program administration using a database system in a government setting.
