Perform installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, access control systems, building security systems, fire alarm systems and HVAC controls. Interpret and use schematics and blueprint drawings to complete the installation and troubleshooting of electrical conduit systems, wiring and device termination in a commercial construction setting. Ensure compliance with regulations including all applicable Building, Electrical and Fire Codes, University and departmental standards and guidelines. May be required to be available after normal hours of operation and reached by phone 24/7. Required to carry a personal cellphone for business use. Position may be hired at a higher level to include foreman duties depending on operational needs and candidate qualifications. Foreman level position includes training and overseeing others and confirmation of scope, schedule, and budget requirements on all work assignments and coordinate changes in a timely manner. Depending on the level of assigned scope of work, projects may include leadership of large improvement projects with complex scopes, increased responsibilities and elevated budgets. High school or equivalent education and experience. Must have at least four years of experience with electrical and/or low voltage system installation, maintenance, and repair. Must include some commercial experience. Demonstrated experience with researching, reading, interpreting, working with and ensuring compliance with blueprints, specifications and regulations including building, electrical, and fire code, and the ability to comply with University and departmental standards and guidelines. Must have the ability to comprehend complex and technical information, have strong documentation skills, be well organized, and able to manage and make progress on multiple tasks at one time. State of Nebraska journeyman electrical license required.
Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Must be available 24/7 by cell phone to assist in campus emergencies and be available for regular rotations on the weekend and after-hours on-call schedule. Applicant review begins April 9. Criminal history background check, driving record review and pre-placement physical will be conducted.
