Accounting Specialist

This position is responsible for executing general ledger processes for newspapers in the East Region. Job will be located in either Columbia, SC or Raleigh, NC; depending on hire.
- Run and supply reports to regional finance team and local departments
- Set up payment lists and purchase orders within PeopleSoft
- Assist in preparing information for internal and external audit
- Perform or assist with daily cash balancing
- Setup and change user profile information within PeopleSoft
- Code journal entries for Region and local finance teams
- Assist in 1099 reporting
- Maintain and follow key internal control processes
- Assist with financial analyses and budget requests
Associated degree of equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess good problem solving skills, be detailed oriented, able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Intermediate PC (Microsoft word, Strong Excel) skills and knowledge of basic accounting principles required.
