The Omaha World-Herald is seeking a confident, motivated, performance-oriented sales professional to join our talented sales team. The World-Herald is part of Berkshire Hathaway Media Group, which is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. We are an award-winning, technology-driven, financially-stable media organization that owns and operates 69 newspapers located in desirable markets in Alabama, Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. We are a leading provider of news, information and advertising across various print and digital platforms. The Account Executive position is responsible for growing revenue by creating strong marketing proposals for our customers.
The Digital and Print Sales Professional is responsible for growing existing accounts' spending and the development of new clients. This position accomplishes its mission through a combination of collaborative sales efforts with sales staff and key stake holders and solo direct sales efforts on targeted accounts. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales, marketing or advertising is preferred. The ideal candidate should be highly-motivated with a proven track record of sales success, particularly with new revenue-generating initiatives. On-site, regular and reliable attendance is required. Safely drive to and from various locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Make regular calls on established and prospective accounts within assigned territory list to determine and evaluate needs and requirements. Develop advertising proposals aimed at satisfying those needs.
- Build new business sales within a territorial/business category assignment by making face to face sales calls.
- Prepare and deliver multimedia sales presentations to new and existing customers in order to sell
new marketing programs and to protect and increase existing advertising. - Take space reservations from advertisers. Process appropriate paperwork for space and provide all
necessary ad production /layout information. - Responsible for inputting ad and billing information into the computer system. Informs
customer/client of total advertising investment. - Participate in ongoing training initiatives.
- Keep abreast of newspaper and other
media advertising trends, developments and merchandising techniques - Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Keep current on credit department policies and procedures.
- Communicates and/or reports to the Advertising Outside Sales Supervisors any customer issues/problems and any other pertinent business information on a daily basis.
- Maintain accurate and complete sales records and promptly submit all required reports
- Presents a professional and helpful behavior and attitude to customers, peers & staff
