Customer Service:
- Greets patients in a positive, helpful, and courteous manner
- Answers and directs calls to appropriate personnel; takes messages is needed
- Assist patient in registering for Patient Portal
- Ensures waiting area and front desk are organized and presentable
- Verify/update personal information, demographics, and appointment time
- Review/explain paperwork such as patient rights, financial responsibility, charity application, medical releases, etc.
- Obtains and scans insurance card(s) into applicable database
- Verifies insurance eligibility/benefits
- Gathers required signatures on patient paperwork
- Receives/posts payments on accounts (i.e. co-payment, past due balances) and provides receipt for payment
- Prints and applies armbands to patients (if applicable)
- Escorts patients or arranges for transport to assigned room or service area
- Schedules/reschedules appointments and procedures as needed/requested
- Provides financial counseling and/or assistance with completion of Charity Application
- Collect/post payment on account (if necessary) and provides receipt for payment
- Access/review Workflow Dashboard daily to view necessary tasks (i.e. reschedule appointment, claim resolution/correctness)
- Process, maintain, update and scan patient/clinic records in a timely, accurate, and confidential manner
- Reconcile daily activities (i.e. appointments, payments, accurate charges)
- Prepare and document bank deposits
- Review/research/edit all rejected claims (i.e. CPT Code incorrect/missing, no charge/incorrect charge)
- Adjusts claims accordingly
- Properly maintains up-to-date office supplies and stock
- Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
- Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
- High School Diploma or equivalent; required/Associates Degree in Business or related field; preferred
- Minimum of 2 years' of clerical and collection experience in a medical office; preferred
- Strong organizational, customer service and communication (written and verbal) skills; required
- Strong mathematical skills and problem solving abilities; required
- Working knowledge of personal computer (PC) and various software applications/programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Athena); required
- Strong interpersonal skills; required
- Must have knowledge and skills to provide service to customer population to include infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics; required
