Seeking an District Court Peace Officer
Description: District Court Peace Officer will serve under the direction of the District Trial Courts and maintain public order, safety and health by enforcement of all laws, maintain order in the Courthouse and assist the Probation Officer as needed. The Officer will be authorized to bear arms in election of his responsibilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintain order and public safety in the courtroom and courthouse.
•Assist the Probation Officer as needed.
•Maintain security of the Mound Building.
•Respond to any situations involving a potential security breach or security threat.
•Acts as first responder for the Court in the case of an emergency event.
Minimum Requirements:
•Certified as a Peace Officer by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
•Certified by the Indian Police Academy.
•Certified by the Oklahoma's Council on Law Enforcement Education.
•Training or comparable certifying school or agency for peace officers with a proper background investigation.
•Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
Preferred Requirements:
•Certified as a Peace Officer by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
•Certified by the Indian Police Academy.
•Certified by the Oklahoma's Council on Law Enforcement Education.
•Training or comparable certifying school or agency for peace officers with a proper background investigation.
•A broad knowledge of criminal justice system.
•Understanding of the MCN Code Annotated.
•Possess ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of persons such as judicial officers, attorneys, and offenders.
