Country Highway Engineer
The position is responsible for administrative and professional engineering work in directing the operations of the County Highway Department. Responsible for the direction of all road engineering and maintenance projects through subordinate engineering and maintenance personnel with whom the technical and supervisory work is delegated. Work is performed with substantial independence within established policies and ordinances set forth by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Kittson County, and approval of engineering and operating programs by the Board of County Commissioners. Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience; includes benefit package.
Job Requirements: Must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, and be a licensed professional engineer in the State of Minnesota OR have the ability to be certified within 6 months from the date of hire. Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of civil or highway engineering, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
Job Experience: Supervising, coordinating and evaluating the work of engineering and maintenance staff while promoting teamwork. Implement preliminary survey and designs for various engineering projects using engineering principles with attention to detail, and must have experience in AutoCAD.

The County Highway Department is also responsible for the inspection and maintenance of the County Ditch System.
