Job Duties: Assist in planning and directing studies to investigate human or animal disease, preventive methods, and treatments for disease, by analyzing sample tissue to evaluate effects of drugs and biomarkers in support of standardized drug dosages, methods of immunization, and procedures for manufacture of drugs and medicinal compounds. Use bioanalytical sample preparation, quantitative LC-MS/MS, and multi-dimensional chromatography. Develop and introduce new techniques to diversify operational capability and improve quality/efficiency. Develop methods for analytical support of drug discovery projects. Apply a strong base in scientific principles/theory to assess data integrity and troubleshooting in overseeing scientific studies. Act as an expert resource in development, optimization, validation. Write qualification protocols, reports, and investigations, answering questions. Provide client consulting and scientific support. Generate scientific templates and answer analytical procedure questions. Keep abreast of new scientific developments and trends, maintains expert knowledge of instruments, equipment, and scientific methodologies. Provide advanced technical problem-solving assistance applying state-of-the-art scientific principles and innovative, efficient use of instrumentation and equipment. Assist in leading R&D, and ensuring availability of adequate supplies, method qualification, test procedure preparation, sample analysis, data calculation, interpretation & review, troubleshooting and report preparation. Conduct research dealing with the understanding of human diseases and the improvement of human health; develop methodologies, instrumentation, and procedures for medical application, analyzing data and presenting findings. Assist in directing experiments & evaluating outcome vs. current SOPs, protocols other relevant standards; recommend appropriate course of action. Lead preparation of and participate in meetings with clients and/or auditors. Use equipment such as chromatography and mass spectrometry systems. Responsible for oversight in investigating cause, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission of diseases. Use principles of medicine and medical/laboratory procedures, follow strict safety procedures. Write scientific reports and articles. Minimum Education Requirement: PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, or Biochemistry or related field. Minimum Experience Requirement: 3 years as a scientist in CRO (contract research) industry working in large or small molecule LC-MS/MS, proteomics, or protein characterization.
