Administrative Assistant/Fiscal Technician - School of Communication Studies
The School of Communication Studies at James Madison University is accepting applications for a qualified Administrative Assistant/Fiscal Technician to work as part of an administrative team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides general administrative support for the academic unit head and faculty of the School.
Advises on matters pertaining to budget, scheduling, alumni relations, and more.
Serves as a liaison among director, students, and faculty.
Maintains financial and budgetary records, and provides regular budget projections, processing travel authorizations, and reimbursements, and the School’s small purchase credit card.
Assists the director of graduate studies with budgetary issues.
Assists the academic unit head with other aspects of School operation, including searches and special events.
Manages departmental grants and foundation accounts.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with PeopleSoft Finance module, ePAR, AIM, and the eVA online procurement system is preferred, or a demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft’s Student Administration module, or the willingness to learn it.
- Experience with Chrome River or a comparable expense management system is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
