Executive Director

Impact Hill located in Oakland, IA is seeking an energetic Executive Director to lead our non-profit with innovative ideas based on community needs. You will work with a very supportive board to create recreational, educational, and cultural experiences for residents of southwest Iowa. We are a 501c3 organization offering a full-time position.
Job Responsibilities
Board Governance: Works with the board to fulfill the organization's mission and strategic plan.
Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Financial Performance and Viability:
- Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
- Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support Impact Hill's mission.
- Maintains cost-accounting for all programs and activities to project and evaluate income, expenses and net revenue.
- Responsible for operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization including local community and board members' skills.
Organization Mission and Strategy:
- Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs and community outreach.
- Implements the strategic plan for the organization including establishing goals and objectives for programming, activities, events, facility rentals, the teen center, community engagement & outreach, fundraising and organizational budgeting.
- Develops strategic partnerships with arts, culture and educational organizations to collaborate on programming, instructors, curriculum and other common or shared elements to best leverage available funding and audience exposure.
- Seeks participation and engagement of community volunteers including civic groups, students, residents, corporations and others to further the mission of the organization.
- Develops and organizes methods for publicity, marketing, and communication across all media (social, print, collateral, electronic, etc.)
- Responsible for continuing and enhancing Impact Hill's positive image in southwest Iowa by being visible at and contributing to a variety of community events and/or organizations.
- Create a plan for collecting and analyzing data that reflects the success of Impact Hill's mission.
- Determine a membership structure and campaign to increase utilization of Impact Hill.
- Create a system for scholarship availability for low-socioeconomic families.
Day to day operations:
- Completes tasks that further advance Impact Hill's mission.
- Responsible for light maintenance and timely communication to the executive committee and the board about larger maintenance needs.
- Maintain website and social media accounts.
- Train and manage volunteers.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Coordinate rentals along with the opening and closing facility.
- Flexible work hours to meet the needs of the clients.
- Additional duties as needed.
Successful candidate must possess the following traits and characteristics:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 3 years experience working in non-profit, marketing, or fundraising preferred
- Experience working with a Board of Directors preferred
- History of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to effectively communicate Impact Hill's mission, vision, and values to donors, volunteers and other stakeholders
- Ability to deliver an excellent customer experience
- Excellence in setting priorities and the ability to deal with multiple tasks and functions simultaneously
- Maintain a positive image within the community
- Objective listening to understand feedback and develop appropriate solutions
