Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to the Finance Director of the College of Science, the Senior Budget and Financial Analyst assists in managing the College’s budget and other resources to maximize efficiency and transparency. This position will also have assigned departments to provide financial support and analysis.

The incumbent will manage the day-to-day of the College’s budget and other financial resources, including tracking and processing approved budget transfers, monitoring the position control process to ensure positions are budgeted appropriately and assisting leadership in the development of a transparent, sustainable, equitable, and inclusive strategic budgeting process within the College. The Ability to ensure accuracy of data and be transparent when reporting out information are critical for this position.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating financial reports;
  • Administering the strategic planning, financial analysis, and development of key metrics to facilitate short- and long-range financial planning to advance the College’s mission;
  • Managing the development of multi-year revenue and expenditure projections;
  • Independently generating and sharing regular reports of college-wide and unit-level activity based on budget utilization and other performance metrics;
  • Creating and canceling orgs/funds for departments and faculty to include startup funds when necessary;
  • Monitoring financial activity to meet planned expenditures in accordance with State, University, and College policies and procedures; and
  • Performing reallocations and journal vouchers using University processes to make sure charges are made to appropriate accounts and organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or combination of education and experience;
  • Experience independently assisting in management of complex budgets and budget variance analysis;
  • Ability to review complex financial reports and analysis for senior management and other stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills;
  • Advanced organizational and financial skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Consistently meets deadlines; and
  • Proficient in building financial reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MicroStrategy experience; and
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner.
