Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota, are seeking a professional to join our team as a full-time Director of Information Technology.
The primary responsibility of the Director of Information Technology is to promote, enhance, support, and oversee the Franciscan Sisters voice and data network, including servers, printers, computers, mobile technology, phones, and applications.
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Information Technology field and three (3) years of professional information systems administration experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Comprehensive problem-solving skills, broad knowledge of a wide range of software, ability to make sound judgment and advice regarding appropriate solutions. Experience in the areas outlined in the job description. Knowledge and experience working on computers and various software applications. Accuracy and confidentiality a must. Be current with trends in technology.

- Description of Role
Take an active role in developing and maintaining the basic technology infrastructure to enhance the mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls. Review and recommend technological enhancements including, both skills and equipment, to improve organizational efficiencies.

- Understands that technology is a core value for accomplishing the mission of Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls and electronic communications will be the preferred mode of community interaction but not the exclusive mode.
- Serves as an integral part of the development of the Communication Plan for the organization, ensuring that electronic methods are used when appropriate.
- Regularly attends the monthly Leadership Council.
- Maintains detailed records on all computer equipment and software licenses.
- Serves as Administrator of network system for organization.
- Evaluate new network-based services and technologies.
- Safeguards file server from outside hacker and virus attacks.
- Make recommendations and oversee upgrades of network services that are appropriate to the organization. Serves as a Project Manager on all network upgrades.
- Install, configure, and test desktop access to network services.
- Set rights and resets passwords for network and users.
- Set up and maintain network users on the file server.
- Set up and maintain all mailboxes and email addresses.
- Works with Internet Service Provider on web page hosting and Internet access.
- Ensures proper backups of the Network System according to procedure.
- Restores files when necessary.
- Maintains and monitors mail server to help safeguard against phishing and spam mail.
- Develops and maintains security on all network systems.
- Monitors existing messaging infrastructure and server usage, ensuring proper working order.
- Determines cause and resolution to desktop software malfunctions, which interrupt access to the Network and other network-based services.
- Coordinates and performs installation of network software and desktop upgrades as needed.
- Assist departments in the conversion of data files from one version of software to another.
- Schedules with users to perform routine maintenance on all desktops as outlined in computer maintenance policy.
- Coordinates outside technical service and support as needed on computer systems.
- Trains personnel on new network features and software.
- Trains all users on the basic network software that is installed on all network workstations.
- Answers questions on basic software functions.
- Creates and maintains basic function booklets for software installed on Network workstations.
- Creates training sessions on basic software functions.
- Researches and recommends improvements and upgrades of equipment and software where necessary.
- Coordinates purchases of all new computer equipment for all departments and Sisters. Serves as a consultant in the areas of current computer equipment, trends, and programs through the reading of professional magazines and by attending workshops, seminars, and classes.
- Serves as administrator on phone system. Purchase phone and accessories, as needed. Setup new users, delete, changes, as needed. Oversee publishing of St. Francis Campus Telephone Directory annually.
- Serves as administrator of Community cell phone plan. Add/delete sisters to plan. Upgrade cell phones as needed. Encourage all sisters to move from personal plans to the Community plan.
- Notifies affected users of any upcoming changes or upgrades in a timely manner.
- Sets up and/or distributes computer equipment to areas as requested.
- Coordinates, designs, and updates databases for organization where necessary.
- Trained and knowledgeable about the phone system and voice mail system and how it is integrated into the Network system.
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures for computer equipment usage, computer maintenance policies, guidelines for disposing of equipment and any other technology related policies and procedures as deemed necessary.
- Educate employees of computer related policies.
- Disposes of old equipment as outlined in procedure for disposing of equipment.
- Maintains certification in all basic network software on our system.
- Prepares an annual budget for the Technology Department as well as work with all departments on budgets for computer equipment upgrades.
- Maintains the On-campus Sister’s computers, ensuring the computers are in working order, upgrading when necessary. Troubleshoots computer problems as needed.
- Maintains and monitors on-campus closed circuit system for chapel, St. Francis Hall, and portable cart.
- Maintains and monitors sound, LCD projector equipment, videotaping equipment in St. Francis Hall and sound system in Chapel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Position Requirements
Physical requirements: Finger dexterity necessary to operate computers and other office equipment, managing papers and filing. Occasional lifting is necessary when receiving supplies, moving equipment, etc. Ability to lift 50lbs. Visual acuity for accuracy, talking and hearing for job duties is necessary. Works in a well-lighted, well ventilated work area. Must be able to sit at desk and computer for extended periods of time.
Aptitudes: Motor coordination, ability to read and write.
Worker Characteristics: High degree of accuracy required in performing required tasks. Must remain calm in meeting work deadlines. Must be alert and flexible. Ability to manage heavy workload and to work with a variety of people. Must have excellent communication skills. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with individuals.
Hazards and Risks: Some undesirable noise. No serious hazards or risks. Moderate degree of tension.
