Job Summary:
Manage athletics facilities & special events for Pitbull Stadium and related athletics facilities with the goal to maximize event bookings and revenue, and position FIU as the premier location for private and special events in the local market.
- Manages special events and facility rentals.
- Assist with sales & marketing plans to promote FIU Stadium as a premier location for special and private events in the greater Miami community with an emphasis on events that will generate rental income, food & beverage sales, or other income.
- Serves as the on-site representative for events held in athletics facilities, such as, concessions, box office, parking, custodial, etc
- Conduct tours of facilities for potential clients; answer questions and provide information regarding facility capabilities.
- Prepare written proposals and present them to potential clients.
- Maximize the use of event space through a proper layering of events/meetings over the same dates.
- Communicates with clients to resolve issues and inquiries; improves customer experience based on client feedback.
- Research and follow current market and industry trends to increase the volume of events. Identify and approach new potential clients and groups. Evaluate the potential business value of various events and clients.
- Establish monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals and specific performance metrics aligned with business strategies and management of department budget.
- Carefully coordinate activities with clients, culinary team, internal departments, and external personnel to ensure special events occurring at Pitbull Stadium are successful and client satisfaction is achieved and exceeded.
- Assist with overall calendar management for the complex and other assigned duties.
- Reports sales results and revenues on a regular basis and suggests improvements as needed. Responsible for financial reports post-event.
- Responsible for venue contract initiation, revision, and execution of event license agreements for all special events at Pitbull Stadium.
- Main contact for industry meeting professionals, Miami Tourism partners, and other special event organizers looking to host events at Pitbull Stadium.
- Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Athletics Facilities & Events Manager. Reports any known NCAA Violations or concerns to the director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of facilities management experience; OR six (6) years of facilities management experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish is desired.
- Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software.
- Experience working in a convention center/arena/stadium or hotel/resort group sales or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
