Dona Ana Community College (DACC) is a comprehensive, learning-centered community college dedicated to a diverse population of learners in support of student success, workforce and economic development and lifelong learning. Job Duties and Responsibilities |
Installation, maintenance and repair of standard locks and keys as well as electronic locks and lock systems. |
Classification Summary |
Lead and participate in the repair, installation and servicing of locks, electronic access equipment and related hardware. Provides back up to the supervisor and may coordinate assigned projects. |
Classification Standard Duties |
Assists the supervisor with prioritizing and scheduling of work. Assigns work to lower level locksmiths. Provides technical guidance to lower level locksmiths in the field. Reviews completed work orders for accuracy. Conducts quality inspections on the work performed by lower level locksmiths. Verifies accuracy of time card entries. Performs supervisory duties in the Supervisor’s absence. Conducts reviews of facility security requirements and makes recommendations regarding the hardware that should be installed. Actively participates in facility design reviews, generates facility estimates, and helps maintain the access control section of the design guidelines. Performs locksmith duties including those related to electronic access systems. This includes cutting keys, installing new locksets, adjusting doors, and installing door closers. Review work orders, specifies and orders materials, and inventorying existing shop stock. |
Knowledge |
Must have working knowledge of the techniques for keying, installing, and maintaining locks and related hardware. Must also possess working knowledge of electronic access systems. |
Skills |
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. |
Abilities |
Ability to cut and issue keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardware. Ability to interpret, implement, and maintain pre-defined master key systems; Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair both mechanical locking and electronic access control device. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. |
Required Education |
High School diploma or GED certificate. |
Required Experience |
Must have a minimum of five (5) years locksmith experience. |
Equivalency | Any equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by HRS. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Experience with a computerized work order system ; Experience with Microsoft Standard operating system (word, Excel); Experience with Microsoft Outlook E-mail; Experience with Alarm Lock DL Windows |
