Must have Bachelor's degree in Biology or Pharmacology, & minimum 6 months research or industry experience within vivo pharmacology studies to eval efficacy, PK/PD relationships, using transgenic mouse and immunocompetent mouse model of disease, with demonstrated knowledge & experience in proper handling of mice per scientific & IACUC protocols, institutional animal welfare policies; monitoring disease progression of in vivo disease model (behavioral activity, body weight measuring, body condition scoring); managing/maintenance of mice inventory.
Experience must include: in vivo compound admin via PO, IP, SC, IV; blood collection for PK analysis including submandibular cheek puncture, tail nick; processing for downstream PK analysis; necropsy with organ & tissue sample collection for PK/PD analysis; tissue processing & protein extraction for downstream assays; in vitro molecular bio techniques such as DNA extraction for genotyping transgenic mice by PCR; RNA extraction for expression analysis; mammalian cell culture with aseptic technique; protein analysis by western blot; safe handling of low molecular weight therapeutic compounds for in vitro, in vivo assays; lab maintenance (equipment quality control, preparing solutions); documentation of work, maintaining lab notebook; recording, analyzing, interpreting analytical data; written & oral presentation of results. Experience may be gained concurrently with education.
