Immigration Paralegal
Burr Forman McNair has an immediate opening for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) immigration paralegal position in its Hilton Head office. The successful candidate will assist lawyers in the preparation, filing, and tracking of various immigration applications and petitions. Some overtime will be required. EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and provide appropriate questionnaires, forms, and documents, and provide instructions and assistance to clients for proper completion.
- Act as a liaison between corporate clients, beneficiaries, and attorneys.
Address client case status inquiries, including steps in process remaining processing times, and consular appointment issues. - Prepare and compile applications and supporting documents for filing with government agencies.
- Conduct ongoing case tracking and management, and track expirations and deadlines.
- Maintain technical knowledge and read various publications pertaining to immigration law.
- Maintain a neat and well-organized desk.
- Maintain regular, prompt attendance.
- Work well with others as part of a team.
- Perform other job-related duties as requested.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two-year degree in paralegal studies or NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants) certification. Prefer Bachelor's degree plus paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program and prior paralegal experience. Excellent writing, proofreading, research, and organizational skills, and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required. LawLogix immigration software experience is preferred.
