BGMU is accepting applications for the position of Telephone Technician. The normal work schedule for this day shift, full-time position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The position performs installation, operations and maintenance of telephony and voice data services and performs site surveys. The position requires:
- superior customer service and communication skills to explain technical information;
- the ability to analyze customer phone and data networks and make recommendations based on BGMU service offerings;
- extensive knowledge of PBX systems and telephony infrastructure;
- excellent skills in trouble shooting customer circuits;
- the ability to analyze network and wiring schematics and implement technical specifications based upon customer requirements;
- availability for 24-hour emergency calls and the ability to perform on-call support work as part of a team;
- proficiency in the application of telecommunications/telephony and fiber technology and its concepts, practices and procedures.
Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma or graduate equivalency is required. One year of field experience in telephony and voice data applications is required. An Associate’s degree in electronics (or a related field) or a combination of equivalent education and experience is required. A valid Kentucky driver’s license is required. Warren County residency is required within six (6) months of BGMU employment.
Preferred Characteristics: Three years of telephony experience is preferred.
