PAYROLL OFFICERBenedict College
It is the mission of the Payroll office to provide timely and reliable payments to the employees and the students of the college. The Payroll office is responsible for the preparation of all College payrolls and for compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to and/resulting from payroll operations, which include the following activities: Computing salaries for all employees based on the terms of employment (hourly, nine-month and 12-month). Providing accurate and timely payments to all employees on the College payrolls. Processing and requesting checks for mandatory and voluntary deductions and payments to third party vendors for payroll benefits and deductions.Maintaining records and reports required by the College, State and Federal Government Agencies pertaining to employees paid through the payroll system. Maintaining the Colleges retirement contributions for employees as well as the Colleges’ match contribution. Processing and distributing attendance/leave report and monitoring and distributing the sick/vacation reports. Special reports as assigned. Maintenance and operation of the official payroll systems and records. Processing of new hires. Distribution of year-end tax forms (W-2’s). Processing manual pays through the payroll system to update annual W-2 wages, to include bonuses and special pays. Preparing payroll account reconciliations. Preparing insurance bill requests.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required along with working knowledge of Payroll Policies and Procedures. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Must have knowledge of Paycom or other Payroll Processing Software. Must have knowledge of TIAA-CREF or other retirement system (403b). Supervisory experience a plus. Must have excellent customer service skills.
